Famed Departures

As we grow and learn each day,

We share those days with others.

From those nearby and far away,

We grasp at unknown wonders.

We televise and idolize those who have the bravery,

Of stepping up upon the stage to prove their capability.

Though we see them very often,

It’s difficult to really know them.

They give us joy when they display,

Their talents honed with practice.

Amazed, we are, with their arrays.

It’s rare we don’t take notice.

Inspiring and filled with pride,

Their passion is what drives them.

To entertain and mesmerize,

Through acting or with rhythm.

Recently we’ve been reminded,

That life is not unlimited.

Still, we surely are inspired;

By how they pushed themselves, undaunted.

Though they are no longer with us,

Their legacy lives on within us.

Weeks’ End

The week was long and tedious,

And next week looks quite ominous.

To those who have the luxury,

Of a two-day break from monotony.

The weather looks fine, take a break and unwind.

Savor the days spent in leisure and play,

And look back on them when you are filled with dismay.

Remember the good, and the bad all the same.

For those two combined are what give you strength.

Though weekends are short,

And some non-existent,

We all must report,

That we still are persistent.

We will find our joy, someday, that’s for sure.

It might take a lifetime, or perhaps even more.

Just be careful and pay close attention,

To the small joys life gives you,

Without heed or mention.

When the hardships of life cause dread or anxiety,

Remember the trials you’ve surpassed up till presently.

The storms will soon calm,

And the dark clouds move on.

Eventually.

404 – Day Not Found

Life is such a mysterious adventure. We wander through the infinite sea of possibilities. Our experiences with others, and with ourselves, shape the world and the people within. The memories, so sharp and vivid in our minds, contribute to our current selves. But we don’t remember each day that we’ve existed, do we? I wonder if it’s possible to trace each personality trait or opinion back to the memory or experience that triggered it.

Who knows? I can only speak from my own experiences, since I’ve never been anyone else. Ever. I don’t remember my first day of third grade, but it was important. Right? I guess it all depends on what your mind chooses to remember. There are so many things we can dwell on during our short time on this earth. Each day of our lives was a step on the grand staircase that lead up, or down, to where we are right now.

That’s why I’m always a little unnerved when I look back and notice all the collapsed and missing stairs. I wonder what’s keeping it all together. I can’t remember each step I took, but I know I took it. And when the steps ahead of me are covered in a fog of ambiguity, I can’t help but feel a little hesitant as I take each step, hoping it won’t all collapse.
